Compliance isn't a page, it's how referrals are structured

Cross-border patient referrals sit at the intersection of healthcare regulation and foreign exchange law. Here's the framework MedTrav operates under.

Accreditation

NABH Medical Value Travel & Tourism empanelment

MedTrav operates as an empanelled facilitator under India's National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) Medical Value Travel & Tourism (MVTF) framework, which sets standards for how international patient facilitation is conducted.

Hospital network

Accreditation partners

Every hospital in the MedTrav network holds NABH and/or Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation — the two standards most government Treatment Abroad programmes require before approving a referral.

Our compliance framework

FEMA-compliant B2B facilitation model

MedTrav's referral and facilitation fees are structured strictly on the B2B coordination layer — between MedTrav and referring facilitators, agents or institutions — in line with India's Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

No referral fees to doctors

No payment of any kind is made to treating doctors for referring or accepting a patient, in line with Indian medical ethics regulations.

B2B-only commercial layer

Commercial agreements exist between MedTrav and facilitators, agents, or institutional partners — never between MedTrav and an individual patient's treating physician.

Cross-border remittance

Facilitation payments to and from overseas partners are structured to comply with FEMA's provisions on foreign exchange transactions.

Documented agreements

Every partner relationship is governed by a written coordination agreement setting out scope, fees and reporting.

Data privacy

Data privacy & patient consent

Medical reports and personal data shared with MedTrav are used only to coordinate a patient's treatment and are shared with hospitals and doctors solely for that purpose.

Explicit consent

Reports are shared with a hospital only after the patient or their referring party consents.

Limited access

Case data is visible only to the assigned case manager and treating hospital team.

Retention limits

Medical records are retained only as long as needed for active care coordination and follow-up.
