How it works for Bangladeshi patients

One coordinated pathway, from your reports to your discharge

Bangladesh is the largest source of referrals MedTrav coordinates. Shared language, short flights to Kolkata and strong hospital relationships in Kolkata, Chennai, Vellore, Bangalore and Delhi-NCR make India the first choice for many families facing cardiac, cancer, transplant and orthopaedic care.

Most-referred specialties

Cardiac surgery, cancer treatment, kidney and liver transplant, joint replacement and spine surgery account for most Bangladeshi cases we coordinate.

Second opinion before you travel

Send your reports to us first. A hospital specialist reviews them by video or in writing, so you know the plan and the cost before booking anything.

Family travel planned in

Up to two attendants can travel with a patient. We plan accommodation near the hospital and arrange interpreters so family members are never left guessing.

Visa, travel and practical details

What to plan before you leave Bangladesh

Visa route

Bangladeshi applicants apply for a physical medical visa through the Indian Visa Application Centres (IVAC) rather than the online e-Visa. IVACs in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna resumed regular visa operations on 28 June 2026, and medical visas remain prioritised. Appointment availability changes, so check ivacbd.com for the latest before you plan dates. We prepare the hospital invitation letter and Medical Reference Number that your application needs.

Getting there

Kolkata is a short flight from Dhaka, with onward connections to Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai. Your coordinator books the airport pickup and the first hospital appointment so the first day in India is not spent finding your way.

Language support

Bengali-speaking coordinators stay in touch with you and your family from the first enquiry through discharge, and can sit in on key consultations.

Payments and foreign exchange

Bangladesh has foreign-exchange rules for overseas medical spending. Ask your bank about permitted limits and the documents it needs, such as the hospital estimate and invitation letter, which we provide.

Visa rules and appointment availability change. This page is general guidance, not immigration advice — confirm current requirements with official sources and your case manager. See our full medical visa guide.

Frequently asked

Questions from Bangladeshi patients and families

Do Bangladeshi patients need a visa to get treatment in India?

Yes. You need an Indian visa in the medical category. Bangladeshi applicants generally apply through the Indian Visa Application Centres (IVAC) rather than online. We prepare the hospital invitation letter and supporting documents, but the decision rests with the Indian authorities.

Are Indian visas available for Bangladesh in 2026?

IVAC centres reopened for regular visa applications on 28 June 2026 after a long period of limited operations, and medical visas have remained a priority throughout. Appointment slots can be limited, so check ivacbd.com and apply as soon as your treatment plan is confirmed.

Which Indian cities do Bangladeshi patients usually choose?

Kolkata for proximity, and Chennai, Vellore, Bangalore and Delhi-NCR for specialised programmes such as transplant, cardiac surgery and oncology. We match the city to your condition, not just to distance.

How much does treatment cost compared with Bangladesh?

It depends on the procedure and hospital, and is not always lower. The table on this page shows indicative ranges in USD with approximate BDT figures. Your written estimate is confirmed after reports are reviewed.

Can I get a second opinion without travelling?

Yes. Send your reports to cases@medtrav.in or use the contact form, and a hospital specialist will review them before you decide to travel.
